Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts
These Kung Pao style Brussel sprouts are crispy, spicy, and delicious! As we all know what truly makes a dish special… the sauce. This sauce is tangy and sweet with the right amount of chili to kick the heat up. I added chicken sausage in the dish, but you can swap for tofu or go with out the sausage. These sprouts are great as a meal for one or you can even make them as a side dish.
Ingredients:
Brussel Sprouts
Chicken Sausage
Peanuts
For the Sauce:
1 tbsp BBQ sauce
1/2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
1 tbsp coconut aminos
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp chili paste
a little bit of honey
Directions:
Chop the Brussel sprouts into all different shapes and sizes. I peeled, halved, and quartered the sprouts.
Cut up the chicken sausage.
In a bowl- mix the chicken sausage and Brussel sprouts. Mix with a little bit of olive oil and salt
Set the air fryer to 380 degrees. Add the Brussel mix into the frying basket and set timer to 8 minutes. Once the 8 minutes has passed, shake (or flip) the Brussels and cook for another 8 minutes.
In a mixing bowl- combine all of the sauce ingredients. Add a handful of finely chopped peanuts.
In a saucepan- add in the sauce and peanuts on medium low heat and stir.
Once the Brussels are finished in the air fryer (add more time if not crispy enough), throw them in the sauce pan and mix until coated in the sauce
Serve in a bowl and enjoy!
